Get A Whiter Smile Without Spending A Fortune

Get A Whiter Smile Without Spending A Fortune
December 18, 2019Revity RevityBlog

Do you dream of having a white smile, but the cost of professional teeth whitening is holding you back? Fortunately, there are several natural teeth whitening methods you can try at home that will give you a smile you deserve.

Americans spend a whopping $11 billion on professional teeth whitening each year, and $1.4 billion on at-home teeth whitening products, according to the publication Healthline.

Although at-home teeth whitening products are a cheap substitute to professional teeth whitening, most whitening products contain harmful chemicals that can deteriorate your teeth. Using store-bought teeth whitening products is okay once in a while, such as for a special occasion. However, you shouldn’t use these products every day because they’re strong enough to weaken your teeth. Continue reading to learn how to whiten your teeth by using safe, natural at-home recipes.

Oil Pulling

Oil pulling, also known as “Kavala,” is a traditional remedy meant to improve oral hygiene that originated in India. The practice of oil pulling involves swishing oil around your mouth to remove bacteria before it turns into plaque. Plaque build-up can make your teeth look yellow, so it’s important to stop bacteria from turning into the plaque to keep your teeth looking white. Most people prefer using sesame oil or sunflower oil when it comes to oil pulling, but any oil will do. If you’re concerned about the taste, you can use coconut oil for a more pleasant oil pulling experience.

To oil pull, you’ll need to put one tablespoon of your preferred oil in your mouth. Swish the oil around your teeth for 20 minutes. Oil pulling can be done every day, as oil doesn’t contain any acid that can weaken your enamel.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is a mild abrasive that contains natural whitening properties. You’re probably already familiar with the whitening effects of baking soda since it’s a popular ingredient in toothpaste. By brushing your teeth with baking soda, you can scrub away surface stains from your teeth. Best of all, baking soda can create an alkaline environment in your mouth, which can prevent bacteria from growing. Keep in mind this remedy won’t bleach your teeth overnight, but you’ll notice a positive difference in a few weeks.

To brush your teeth with baking soda, mix one teaspoon of baking soda with two teaspoons of water. Mixing baking soda with water creates a paste, which you can use to brush your teeth.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar can be used as a natural house cleaning product, and it’s also great for bleaching your teeth. Acetic acid, the main ingredient found in apple cider vinegar, has been proven to kill bacteria before it turns into plaque. Excessive use of vinegar can weaken your teeth over time, so you’ll only want to leave the vinegar in your mouth for a few seconds at a time.

Dilute the apple cider vinegar with water to use it as a mouthwash and swish it around your mouth for a few seconds. Rinse your teeth with plain water afterward.
